Tabita Rezaire: Premium Connect

Artist, yogi, doula and farmer's apprentice, Tabita Rezaire uses the moving image to draw a path to decolonising bodies and minds, looking closely at the parallel connections we establish with the natural and digital worlds.

Batalha presents the installation _Premium Connect_ in the Sala-Filme. In this film, Rezaire begins from the revelatory scene in _The Matrix_ in which the machines’ exploitation of human beings is explained, using this to reflect on questions related to colonial exploitation. The notion of an imposed normative truth that rewrites cultural legacies finds an echo in the superimposed symbols of digital networks next to artefacts and fortune telling methods of mystic traditions in Africa, such as the Ifá used by the Yoruba people.

This film intersects with the Politics of Sci-Fi programme and is accompanied by the display of the graphical compositions _Bowdown — inner fire series_ (2018) and _Pimp your brain_ (2017).
