Entrecampos SquarePraça de Entrecampos is a plaza in the Alvalade neighbourhood of Lisbon, with the adjoining Túnel de Entrecampos listed at the address 1700-086, Lisboa. Its name means "between the fields" in Portuguese, because it lies between Campo Grande, the "large field", and Campo Pequeno, the "small field". The Portuguese-language entry notes that the name is unofficial: the square belongs to Campo Grande, in the parish of Alvalade, and forms its southern end. Earlier it was called Praça Mouzinho de Albuquerque. At the centre of the plaza stands Lisbon's Monument to the Heroes of the Peninsular War (Monumento aos Heróis da Guerra Peninsular). Three major avenues begin here: Avenida da República heads south, Avenida dos Estados Unidos da América east, and Avenida das Forças Armadas west. To the north lies a garden of fair size, known as Campo Grande and officially as Jardim Mário Soares, flanked by two roads that link the square with the northern part of the city. The square has a station on the Lisbon Metro's Yellow Line (Linha Amarela), spelled as two words, Entre Campos, while the CP railway station is written as one word, Entrecampos. Alfa Pendular and suburban lines serve the railway station, so the place works as a point for changing between metro and train. Pedestrian passages run underground between the stations; keep belongings secure, and follow the signs so you do not come out on the wrong side of the multi-lane avenues. Crossings around the roundabout are wide, but vehicles move aggressively, so wait for the digital pedestrian signals. Next to the University of Lisbon campus, a mixed-use development rose on land left vacant when the city's wholesale market relocated. The project description calls it the largest scheme of urban regeneration now in development in Lisbon since Expo '98. The 650 apartments, from studios to three-bedroom units, were allotted to citizens under 40 by public raffle, and 10,000 people applied for the first 300 units. The Art Forum, the city's new contemporary art centre, fronts the open square, which hosts restaurants, cafés, shops, an outdoor cinema, a flea market and book fairs. The site lies at a junction of Avenida das Forças Armadas and Avenida Álvaro Pais. Inner streets are for pedestrians only, with cars kept to the outer perimeter. The immediate square is described as corporate and transit-heavy, but a short walk north toward Campo Grande or east toward Avenida dos Estados Unidos leads to local cafés, pastry shops (pastelarias) and restaurants.AlvaladeSquares, Streets & Bridges

Estádio Universitário de LisboaThe Estádio Universitário de Lisboa, or University Stadium of Lisbon, is a sports complex set in a green area of 40 hectares in the Alvalade neighbourhood, at Avenida Professor Gama Pinto, 1600-063, Lisboa. The grounds lie in the centre of the city, beside Monsanto (Ajuda), at Lisbon's Cidade Universitária. It was inaugurated on May 27th 1956 and became a service only in 1989. Since 2013, when Universidade de Lisboa merged with the Technical University of Lisbon, it has been an autonomous service within the new Universidade de Lisboa. Its facilities are spread over the Cidade Universitária Campus and the Ajuda Campus. Besides the stadium itself and its training fields, the complex has swimming pools, tennis courts and multisport complexes. The service promotes sport, health and leisure, and it is open to the general community, with special pricing for the academic community. Activities are grouped under water sports, combat sports, a golf academy, fitness programmes, a school of athletics, health and wellness, team sports, and tennis and padel. A card called ULisboa OnTop brings these together in one, aimed at people who want more freedom and variety in their sporting activities. Those who prefer to exercise independently can use a fitness trail open to the public, as well as several areas for standard or free-style physical activity. Walking, marching or running here is also a way to discover architectural and cultural heritage, found in several buildings and in sculptural work. Catering within the premises ranges from a Macrobiotic Cafeteria to a Burger Restaurant. Families are catered for too. Several sports modalities are offered for children, and a project named Crescer no Estádio (Growing-up at the Stadium) was developed with children, teenagers and families in mind. It provides Summer Camps, Sports Holidays, Sports Days, School Activities and Activities for Parents & Children. Health services sit alongside the sport. There is a Medical Centre offering medical specialties, as well as a Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Centre and physiotherapy and wellness. The stadium also has a cultural side: an article dated 06 July 2026 reports that Hipotético Jazz returns to the University of Lisbon gardens, in partnership with the Hot Clube de Portugal and as part of the Música na Universidade de Lisboa programme, bringing outdoor jazz to the late afternoons. Notices posted in June 2026 cover an update on activities at the 25-meter pool and closures of Athletics Track No. 2 in July.
