Pão de CanelaOpens in a new tabPríncipe Real · Cafés & Coffee ShopsPão de Canela is a café and bakery at Praça das Flores 27, 1200-192 Lisboa, in the Príncipe Real neighbourhood. It opens every day of the week, from 08:30 until midnight. A Google overview places it on Praça das Flores, near Príncipe Real and São Bento, and says it has grown over the decades from a neighbourhood classic into an anchor of the square's laid-back, bohemian community. The café's own website adds that it has been part of the square for more than 20 years. A blog post from December 2011, written by a group spending six months in the Graça district, calls the square a beautiful place to escape to, away from the bustle of Bairro Alto. The writers noted a Parisian-like feel, a tree-filled park in the middle, a playground and quaint, tiled houses all around. According to the post, Pão de Canela overlooks the square and is a relaxed, simple café with a terrace suited to people-watching in the mild winter. The writers visited a couple of times, enjoyed a galão and a fruit tart, and were entertained by chatty locals. The café's website presents the place as suited to any moment of the day: breakfast through the morning, a working lunch, an afternoon snack while children play in the park, or dinner with friends. At any hour, guests can choose between the café menu and the restaurant menu, which was developed by Chef Joana Duarte. Her kitchen serves traditional, vegetarian and vegan dishes, with natural juices, wine or a cocktail alongside. Brunch à la carte is available daily. A set brunch costs €19 per person and requires a group of at least four. It includes croissants and bread, cheese, ham and butter, jam, honey and Nutella, scrambled eggs and bacon, banana bread, yoghurt with granola, and a bowl of fruit. The price also covers one hot drink of choice and a jug of natural juice; the hot drinks include coffee, meia de leite, galão, abatanado and tea. Drinks on the café menu include cappuccino, hot chocolate, mint lemonade, orange juice, an iced tea named after the café, and teas with orange and cinnamon or with ginger and mint. Savoury choices include toasts, croissants, brioche with scrambled egg, cheese and bacon, brioche with fried egg, tomato and avocado, croquete, chamuça, cod pastel, chicken pie and a vegetable crepe. Sweet options include banana bread, a gluten-free coconut and walnut cake, and a coffee éclair. The phone number is +351 213 972 220.
