Parque Municipal das VirtudesMiragaia · Parks & GardensParque das Virtudes is located in the historic centre of Porto, on the site once occupied by the Companhia Hortícola Portuense, designed by the landscape gardener José Marques Loureiro (1830-1898). It was acquired by the Câmara Municipal do Porto in 1965 and underwent restoration works in 1998. It covers 1 ha, unfolds in terraces down the slope with a view over the Alfândega, the Rio Douro and Vila Nova de Gaia, and includes the Chafariz das Virtudes, a classified ginkgo, a corísia in the process of being classified, and public toilets.

It will eventually become one of the largest urban parks in the country and the second largest in the city of Porto. It currently occupies 10 hectares, representing roughly one-fifth of the total area planned for the project, which is 53 hectares. The first section of the park was inaugurated in July 2010, and the municipality has plans to build it in several phases over the next decade until it reaches its planned area.

It has an informal sports area with two goals, a children's playground next to a natural amphitheater on the south side, a network of paths, a large pedestrian area and an ecological wooden bridge. These structures allowed the recovery and requalification of the river and stream banks.
